PineBuds Pro
Ooo, a new shiny thing. My PineBuds arrived last week and my first impressions are that both the build and sound uality seems good and they feel comfortable in the ear.
The first couple of tries didn’t feel very comfortable but, it turns out, I didn’t have them in my ear properly as I wasn’t used to this style of earbud yet. After I got them inserted properly I found them quite comfortable to wear and the quality is even better than I first thought. For small earpieces they have more bass than I expected and the music is crystal clear.
I have tested the active noise cancelling a couple of times and the Regular ANC works well, although the SuperANC mode doesn’t seem to make much difference but that may be just my testing.
Battery life on the charging case seems good as it’s been a week now and I am yet to plug in the case.
From the Pine64 wiki there seem to be only two open firmware projects at the moment, OpenPineBuds which at the moment is just the SDK with a Docker file and Little Buddy, although the last commits for the latter is from several months ago. Hopefully activity will pick up in the future and can form the basis of this open source audio hardware.
